Suggestions I have some suggestions. 1) A suggestions forum :) 2) Comments on artwork/literature. Feedback and inspiration is always useful. 3) All of the things you have planned :) This is exciting. I can’t say that I am a professional artist in any way, but I think this site is really excellent and has a lot of potential! |

RE: Suggestions You’re absolutely right – a suggestions forum is a great idea! Regarding the comments on submitted works – we’ve thought about it before and had decided not to add comments to remain more professional and career oriented. We want our members profiles on the site to act as an online portfolio to which they can direct employers to. However, I do agree that feedback and inspiration are indeed useful – so adding comments isn’t something I’m entirely opposed to. We just need to decided how to go about it – can anyone post? can everyone see them? can you turn comments on or off for each work? I’d love the hear some of your thoughts on this :) |

RE: Suggestions That is an interesting thought about comments. Perhaps, to provide some freedom, everyone can decide for themselves who can and can’t see the comments on their works. The choice could be between known people and people watching you or no one. For the “known” option, the individual’s friends and colleagues could communicate and give each other feedback while potential employers who are watching the individual’s profile would not see the feedback behind the work. Or perhaps there could be a feedback group in addition to known people and those watching you. So when a new person is added to your known list or your watched list you could designate whether they can be involved or view feedback on your works. |

RE: Suggestions Hey, great ideas for the comments! Allowing users to choose a privacy level would be the best way to go. I’ll definitely talk to my partner about that and we’ll probably try to work it in with the next set of features. Also, those rails application failed to start errors are another major problem. I’m pretty sure it’s a problem with our hosting service as others have complained about the same problem and it’s non-existent in my development environment. We’ll probably end up switching to a Rails hosting services within the next few months. |
